Videos on you tube are not training, debating with trolls online is not training. Getting outside and practicing skills in the real world with like minded people not only IS training, its much more than that. Its building community and tribe with others who share your values and goals. And as Mike Shelby from Forward Observer says: “he who brings the most people wins”.

Then on May 18th Frontline is helping the public elevate their map and compass skills by navigating across ~700 meters of rolling brushy terrain to find their assigned marker, and then return to the correct end point. There’s even going to be a bonus point that you can use to test your UTM grid skills.
If you’re in western WA, these are some great opportunities to get outside, to network with people like yourself, and pass on skills to the next generation. If you’re not in WA, use the communication tools you have, whether that’s a church group, a forum, a friend group or social media to find the do-ers and get outside!
